What This Calculator Does

This monthly salary calculator converts any income amount — annual, hourly, or monthly — into a consistent monthly figure and full pay breakdown. It's useful for comparing job offers expressed in different terms, setting up a monthly budget, or simply understanding what your hourly rate works out to per month.

How It Works

All three input types convert to an annual figure first, then divide by 12:

Annual input: Monthly = Annual ÷ 12

Hourly input: Monthly = Hourly × 40 × 52 ÷ 12

Monthly input: Shown as-is, annual = Monthly × 12

Example Calculations

  • $90,000/year → $90,000 ÷ 12 = $7,500/month
  • $40/hour → $40 × 2,080 ÷ 12 = $6,933/month
  • $5,000/month → $5,000 × 12 = $60,000/year

All figures shown are gross (before tax). For your after-tax monthly figure, use the Take-Home Pay Calculator.

Why This Matters

Monthly income is the natural unit for personal budgeting. Rent, loan payments, utilities, and subscriptions are all monthly obligations. Converting your salary to a reliable monthly gross figure lets you build a budget that actually reflects your cash flow — and comparing a $45/hr contract to a $90,000 salaried offer becomes instantly clear.
